Chapter 20: Birthday
[Name] woke up a few days later and checked her phone to see what time it was.
Her eyes widened in excitement as she realized it was her eighteen birthday, finally.
She looked over to where Jack should've been laying, but instead found a note.
She picked up the note and began to read it:
"[Name],
I've gone to the North Pole for a little while, sorry if you had to wake up and find me missing."
-Love, Jack"
[Name]s eyes began to droop. She was looking forward to spending her birthday with Jack...
She looked up again to notice that he had more written:
"P.S.
Don't worry, I'm not going to miss your birthday, I'll be back in time to give us plenty of time to hang out."
[Name] smiled in relief and placed the note on her nightstand, getting up to get dressed.
She walked downstairs to the smell of sweet foods and looked over to see her mom baking her a cake. "Good morning, sweetie." Her mom smiled brightly, "Did you get Jack's note? Oh, you'll be so excited when he shows you the--" she cut off suddenly and put her hand over her mouth as she remembered not to say it.
[Name] lifted a eyebrow, hopping excitedly over to her mom, "Show me what, mom?"
"Oh, I can't tell you, sweetie."
"I'll still act surprised if you tell me," [Name] whined.
Her mom just giggled as she pulled out a freshly baked cake,  "Oh, you're turning eighteen and you're still just like a child when it comes to presents. I'm sorry dear, this time it's too special to tell you."
[Name] groaned and dropped her head back, "Now I'm even more curious."
"It'll be worth the wait." Her mom looked up when she heard the sound of wind and the pound of feet against the floor upstairs, "oh, sounds like he's back, why don't you go see him?"
[Name] excitedly ran up the stairs and into her room, seeing Jack's back to her as he was showing Bunnymund something.
Bunny pricked his ears and cleared his throat to let Jack know she was right behind him.
"O--oh! Hi, [Name]," Jack hid what he was showing Bunny behind his back, his face slightly flushed.
"What's behind your back?" [Name] asked suspiciously as she closed the door. Jack just stared at her until Bunny rolled his eyes a stepped forward.
"It's your birthday present, ankle bi--" Bunny cut off and chuckled, "Guess I can't call you that anymore, mate. Look't you, eighteen. But like I was saying, can't see it yet. Still working on the goodie."
[Name] let out a small complaining huff, "Man," she groaned, "even mom wouldn't tell me what it was, is it really that special?"
Bunnymund just nodded and used his paw to signal at her to shoo. She huffed again and sat down with her back to them, "Tell me when your done."
She listening to the sound of tapping and whistling sound of Jack's frost spreading across something. Finally, she heard Bunnymund whisper to Jack, "That's a beauty, mate. I'm sure she'll love it..." He looked over at [Name] and bent forward and whispered something quieter to Jack, all she could make out was "How is it going to work out though... I mean..."
Jack sighed and turned towards Bunnymund, "I'll figure it out." And walked downstairs.
Bunny hopped over to [Name] and looked at her, "Better be heading downstairs if you want ta find out what we were making, mate. Would go wit'cha but I got to get back to the Warren." He patted her back and smiled at her as she excitedly stood up and bolted downstairs.
She saw Jack and her mom speaking to each other when she got down, and they both turned to smile at her.
[Name] smiled in delight as she saw a white cake with decorative blue snowflakes covering it, it had eighteen lit baby blue candles sticking out of it.
Blowing out the candles and eating the cake went by quickly, so it was eventually time to open presents.
Her mom sighed at her, "unfortunately I only had time to make the cake, so only Jack has a present for you." She smiled at Jack and went over to her daughter getting her to stand up. [Name] looked back at her mom in confusion.
Jack took a deep breath before dropping down onto one knee. He pulled a small box out of his jacket pocket and opened it in front of her, causing her to clasp her hands over her mouth.
"Will you marry me?"
